MR. MERTSOC obtained his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in 1992 and his Bachelor of Arts from Humboldt State University in 1987. Prior to joining the firm in 2008, he had been practicing family law since 1996. Mr. Mertsoc is a member of the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association, Family Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association and is admitted to the United States District Court, Southern District. Mr. Mertsoc has been a seminar presenter on issues related to discovery in family law actions. He is also a member of the BBB National Panel of Consumer Arbitrators and has served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Superior Court.
The Law Offices of Beatrice L. Snider began in 1974 as a one-attorney office in San Diego. After the Family Law Act of 1970, it became obvious to Ms. Snider that the handling of a family law matter required lawyers with highly specialized skills. Family law encompasses not only the dissolution, custody, support and property division aspect of law but often requires the lawyer to cross over into other areas of the law including civil, corporate, business, tax, bankruptcy, pensions, etc. This need, coupled with the passion to affect positive change in a person's life during a difficult and dramatic time, resulted in Ms. Snider building a law firm to fill that need.
The firm has grown and currently has over thirty skilled staff on the team. The attorneys on the staff are dedicated exclusively to family law issues such as divorce, property distribution, spousal support, child support, custody and visitation issues, grandparent guardianship and visitation issues, pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, legal separation agreements, same-sex issues and cohabitation agreements. Five of the attorneys hold State Board Certification in Family Law.
